Gullan&Gullan goes global

ICOM, the global network of independent advertising and marketing communications agencies, has appointed Gullan&Gullan Advertising as its exclusive South African member. ICOM is the leading independent agency network in the world. Founded in 1950 as the National Federation of Advertising Agencies, the network now has over 70 member agencies in more than 50 countries.

Africa, according to ICOM, is an important region to the network's clients who are looking to expand in fast-growing markets. In addition, advertising and promotional activity is expected to increase in South Africa this year as the country hosts the FIFA World Cup in June.

Michael Gullan, MD of Gullan&Gullan Advertising, said he is looking for a sense of community in the global marketplace. “Our agency has been growing consistently since we opened four-and-a-half years ago. We are eager to interact with our global peers to better understand their insights as agency owners from a diverse range of cultures, and we want to learn from, contribute to and cooperate with agencies from around the world,” he said.

Independence is the characteristic of every ICOM agency. While being part of the global network, each ICOM agency remains part of the local market culture, connected socially, politically and economically. “This is just one of the reasons why Gullan&Gullan was the perfect candidate to represent the network,” said Gary Burandt, ICOM Executive Director.
